As this is my first post in the blog, I had best introduce myself. My name is Belinda and I’m the ‘B’ in ‘B’s Hive’. To begin — a confession (several actually!):
• I am a Rescuer
• I am a Magpie
• I am a Second-Hand Junkie
• I have a penchant for gathering but NEVER EVER use the ‘H’ word to describe myself or my home
• I cannot resist a bargain — disregarding the saying “It’s only a bargain if you actually need it”. These have been long term tendencies resulting in many collections.
I grew up in Motueka, a rural town in the South Island of New Zealand and firmly consider myself a Mainlander. After many years in Auckland I found myself in Whanganui; somewhat by chance and unexpectedly I purchased a house here. The local auction house was immediately discovered and I proceeded to fill my home with the wonders that lay within! This included box-lots of Crown Lynn; a dinner set resulted and a collection was begun. Alas I met someone who collected, I loaned a book from the library, I joined numerous FaceBook groups and hunted out Crown Lynn wherever I travelled. In my naivety I decided to collect one piece of each pattern — result — boy oh boy — that had to be smartly curtailed! Still, I had managed to amass quite a collection of my own to date and class myself as a ‘Crown Lynn Fan’.
However… the current ‘situation’ is on a whole new level…
A chance conversation, a Trade Me purchase, putting two and two together, a knock on a door, courage to ask and Voila – that set of circumstances (some may say ‘fate’) has brought me to where you have found me today — “the B is out of the Hive”. I had stumbled upon an opportunity — did I seize it and run? Lots of thinking was undertaken, decisions were made, many hours of hard work ensued and determination galore has been required.
So, Crown Lynn fans, this lone ‘B’ is flying head first into the world of Crown Lynn retail. Please join the swarm as I take flight whilst continuing on my own Crown Lynn journey.
Go well everyone.
